The Silent Lessons My Clients Have Given Me

When people think about therapy, they often imagine that the psychologist is the one doing all the teaching, guiding, advising, and helping clients understand themselves. While that is a part of the process, what many don’t realize is that therapy is also deeply humbling for the therapist. Over time, I’ve come to understand that while I support my clients in their healing journeys, my clients have also been some of my greatest teachers. Every session, every story, and every moment of vulnerability has taught me something profound about life and about being human. One of the biggest lessons my clients have taught me is the quiet strength people carry within them. I have sat with individuals who walked into the room feeling completely broken people who believed they were not strong enough to face another day. Yet, the simple act of showing up, of choosing to talk about their pain, already reflects incredible courage. Watching my clients slowly rebuild themselves one conversat...
